2003 South Dakota CMN Champion
Darrel Gene Hochhalter, III, is a happy and energetic child who has
overcome much in his life. After he was born, Darrel spent many of
his first days in Rapid City Regional Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care
Unit, where almost all of the equipment is purchased through the
Children's Miracal Network (CMN). He was eventually diagnosed with
Congenital Muscular Dystrophy and began physical and occupational therapy
at the Black Hills Rehabilitation Hospital.

Much of the equipment in that area is also provided by CMN. At one time,
it was unknown whether Darrel would ever be able to walk. Today, though,
through his strength and determination, the support and love from his
parents, and help from CMN, Darrel is not only walking, but running through life.
