The Hans P. Memorial Hospital was established in 1953 with the help of
Philip, SD rancher and philanthropist, Hans P. Peterson. Peterson deeded
his ranch so that the hospital could be built and members of the community
joined together to raise the funds to complete it. His unselfish commitment
to Philip provides the caring environment that has been the center of our
staff's attitude toward our patients and families.
We are especially proud of our $2 million dollar remodeling and renovation
project which was made possible by the support of the citizens of Philip,
surrounding communities and a contribution from our healthcare partners at
Rapid City Regional Hospital. This joint venture has seen completion of
its first phase, which includes a new radiology suite, brand new clinic, and
emergency room resulting in the region's premiere acute care facility. Soon
to be completed will be our state-of-the-art physical therapy and
rehabilitation center.
Philip Health Services remains a community-owned healthcare facility that
offers a multitude of services including Emergency Care 24 hours a day. We
also have an on call physician who can refer patients to X-ray, Laboratory
and Mobile CT Scan services within the hospital. Philip Health Services
has a swing-bed program which means patients can be referred for a prescribed
length of time to receive rehabilitation care and observation. Home Heath
Care is available and the care team members work with your physician and
other hospitals' discharge planners to coordinate extraordinary follow up
care. Our advanced Telemedicine Medicine program allows sharing of information
and expertise between health care facilities through interactive video and is
