diabetes. Diabetes is a disease in which your body does not
produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is
needed by your body to convert sugar, starches and other food into
energy needed for daily life. Diabetes can be associated with
serious complications but you can take steps to control the disease
and lower the risk of complications.

Diabetes Self-Management Education Program at Custer Regional
Hospital will support you and your family in understanding, coping,
and succeeding in controlling your life with diabetes.
The American Diabetes Association recognize the Diabetes
Self-Management Education Program offered at Custer Regional Hospital
as meeting National Standards of care. The multi faceted team at
the Diabetes Center will asses your specific needs and goals. You
and your family will than work with the staff to develop an
individualized treatment plan that will enable you to successfully
self-manage your diabetes.
The Diabetes Self-Management Education Program will provide you
with the educational tools you need to self-manage your
diabetes. Education at the Diabetes Center will help you make
decisions that affect your health and support you in meeting your
