Various types of laboratory tests and imaging techniques are used
during and after cancer treatment to monitor tumor response to
treatment and to watch for potential side effects. Imaging
tests your doctor could order might include x-rays, MRIs
(magnetic resonance imaging), CT scans (computerized tomography,
often called a "Cat" scan), nuclear medicine tests, ultrasounds
or mammograms. Laboratory tests could include tumor markers,
organ function monitors or blood counts.
