In April of 2002, the Cancer Care Institute was renamed after John T. Vucurevich due to his generous community philanthropic endeavors and strong support of community-based health care in western South Dakota. Mr. Vucurevich is a long-standing philanthropist who spent his career in banking and real estate, with holdings that once included 40 banks and 1,000 rental properties. He also served as a South Dakota State Representative and South Dakota Senator.
